Water oxidation: ozone has a complex impact on water (reduces color, improves taste and odor) and oxidizes anthropogenic contaminants (endocrine disruptive compounds, drugs, pesticides, chemicals (phenols, MTBE, solvents, plastisizers etc.)). Ozone is 1.5 times stronger oxidant than chlorine. To destruct persistant and recalcitrant compounds in water ozone is combined with other oxidants (hydrogen peroxide, UV-radiation etc.) to create twice more powerful oxidants than chlorine in water – °OH-radicals. These processes are called AOPs (Advanced Oxidation Processes).
