Gases separation: during water aeration unwanted gases (CO2, H2S, CH4, Rn etc.) will be stripped. CO2, CH4 and Rn will be separated first due to their lower solubility comparing to H2S. In the process of aggressive CO2 removal the pH increases and the conditions for iron and manganese precipitation will be improved. Due to the very intensive mixing of gas and water the process reaches almost equilibrium conditions. The aeration (stripping) process is followed by the separation of iron hydroxide and manganese dioxide in granulated filtermaterials.
